Favorite room in your house:  My favorite room in my house would have to be the bar.  Not for the obvious reasons, but for the ambiance.  My parents recently gave my husband and I a bar and stools for a wedding present.  I think it is very important in any design, particularly a home,  to make it personal, and surround yourself with things that mean something to you.  Having lived abroad for several years, many of our close friends and family are great distances away.  My husband being from NZ the bar inevitably has a slight rugby theme, however,  it is mostly filled with photographs of friends, family,  and places that we love.   Although I don’t get to spend much time in it, when I do,  it is when it is a time to relax, reminisce, and enjoy the company of family and good friends.

Favorite piece of furniture: My mother has a beautiful antique dining chair that has been in the family for years.  It belonged to my great grandmother, then my grandmother, and now my mother, and I’m hoping that some day she will pass it on to me.

Favorite pastime:  My favorite pastime is definitely travelling.  I love the adventure of exploring a new place.  …..running down the platform in a European train station, while dragging your luggage, and just barely making your connection…..then laughing at yourself while relaxing and enjoying the scenery while you drink a cappuccino.   There is nothing like it!

Favorite design-related magazine:  There are so many that I enjoy and get inspiration from.  Artichoke and Houses are probably two of my favorites.  I also like to get lost in luxury travel magazines perusing through all of the vacation homes.  I’m such a dreamer.

Favorite room to design:  It’s tough to pick just one.  While I love sifting through all of the possible fabric options for a living room, I would have to pick the kitchen.  I enjoy cooking and love to organize, so I have fun designing all of the little drawers and various storage spaces that a kitchen requires.
