Postcard from Paris Selected by The Cliffs Communities as Designer for Green
Home
Firm will manage specifications and furnishings for sustainable home at Mountain
Park
(Greenville, SC: April 9, 2007) Postcard from Paris has been selected by The
Cliffs Communities as the interior design firm for its environmentally sustainable
model home at The Cliffs at Mountain Park. The Cliffs has also named Johnston
Design Group as the architect of the project. The home will showcase the “green”
movement, highlighting the ability to design and build homes in an environmentally
friendly manner while preserving comfort, style, and quality.
Linda McDougald of Postcard from Paris notes, “Designing responsibly, with an
understanding of how your work impacts the natural environment, enhances a lifestyle
in very exciting ways. Selection of materials, orientation of a structure, use
of natural light, implementation of lighting and energy controls – these are simple
elements to address and they can have such a positive influence on the home equally
as much as on the environment.”
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating
System is the “nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and
operation of high performance green buildings.” Obtaining LEED certification is
among the goals of architect Scott Johnston of Johnston Design Group.
“This certification is an important mark of environmental responsibility, noting
the home as healthy and comfortable while conserving energy, reducing waste, and
lowering operating costs,” notes Johnston. “This is what the future of design
holds.”
The home is expected to be completed in the fall.
